Community Judges
Speech and debate events could not operate without the donation of time from our community judges! Judges come from all walks of life. No experience is necessary. We are a conversational league, so if you’ve ever talked to someone, you have the experience needed!
As a judge you can choose the speech and debate events you would like to evaluate. Each round is approximately two hours and you decide how many rounds you will judge. We often need many judges so don’t feel shy about staying for multiple rounds. You can also observe other rounds and get exposure to other speech and debate events that you might judge in the future.
Your own experience will guide you. Each judge has different tastes, background and experience, leading to a variety of input to participants.
Video training is provided and you will have time before the round starts to ask any questions to a staff member. We are grateful for your service as a community judge!
